While I don’t get nearly as much time as I’d like to post on this blog (as you may have noticed by the relatively sparce number of entries so far) I do spend a lot of time browsing others. There’s nothing better than getting lost in the blogosphere when you’re waiting for the train, the bus, or the kettle to boil (thank goodness for Wi-Fi).
Over the past few weeks I’ve been filling my Pinterest boards with crafty ideas I’ve stumbled across on other sites, and there’s some really amazing stuff out there. For that reason I’m going to dedicate one day every week (we’ll go with Thursday, shall we?) to shouting about brilliant blogs that I’m incredibly jealous of (that is, they bring out the green-eyed monster in me).
First up on the podium is Compulsive Craftiness. It’s written by Sarah, an arty type who found herself out of work thanks to the recession, and has been crafting ever since. As such, her blog is crammed full of sewing and knitting patterns, DIY ideas and step-by-step craft tutorials. Plus, she’s got a really nice, natural writing style that makes reading her posts a breeze.
As for favourite posts, this week’s free Sew On and Sew Forth poster download has to be it. Sarah’s illustrator husband created it especially for the site, and she’s uploaded a high-res version for all to download – just click through to her post via the link above and you’ll find the link to the full-sized version. While you’re there, stay around for a bit to read some of her other posts.
For someone who’s as obsessed with words and pretty typefaces as they are with sewing, it’s a lovely find. And it’ll be going up on my wall as soon as I have a dedicated ‘making’ space. Thank you Compulsive Craftiness!
